The Bard's Gown, Modern Ophelia shot at The Ithaca Falls

February 21, 2018 Layne Dann

In June, Becca Howland shot Amy as a modern day Juliet.  In July she shot Miranda Madden as Ophelia!

In planning this shoot, I asked Miranda and Becca to think on how they saw Ophelia considering her as having gone from sanity to insanity.  Ophelia was a bohemian noblewoman, innocent, and pure who ends up losing her mind when Hamlet is  irrational.

Miranda has pink hair and an arm sleeve! When deciding who a modern Hamlet would be attracted too, Miranda fit the bill.  She is a cute and pure, an innocent looking 'rebel' with light pink hair and needle born tattoos.

Becca shot her from both angles, capturing the clean arm versus the tattooed arm.  Whether, Miranda did it knowingly or not, is of no matter. On her 'clean side' Miranda maintains the wide eyed look of an ingenue.  When her tattooed side is photographed, she has a bit of a jaded, hardness come through!

This shoot was interesting.  Becca has a strong relationship with purple and grays, evident when we shot Juliet in June.  In this shoot, I was curious to see what her relationship with pink was.  What I got was a mix of innocence: The color of blush and jaded maturity, confusion, and frustratration in the moody vibes of deep-fuchsia-infused-berry and mauve.

Miranda is a Makeup Artist. She kept her makeup strong and soft in the beginning, then deepened her lip for the final water shots!
